"...the most well informed regarding educational plans with dyslexic children."
My son, H, received testing from Stephen MacCormack when he was 6 years old and was just ending first grade. He had difficulty with word and letter recognition as well as writing. My son spent most of the day being tested and actually left saying he had fun with Mr. MacCormack. Mr. MacCormack explained the testing clearly and in terminology that I was able to understand. He diagnosed H with dyslexia and gave recommendations for H's IEP. He also was available to consult on H's IEP prior to the school meeting to offer advice. Mr. MacCormack was so very kind and understood exactly the stress that our family was feeling due to worry about H.
We returned to Mr. MacCormack 6 years later for repeat testing when H started having more difficulty in middle school with his dyslexia and required testing again. The school system was unable to support H's learning needs. Mr. MacCormack again was wonderful and kind with H. He was able to establish a comfortable rapport with my now teenage son that put H at ease. The testing and recommendations that Mr. MacCormack provided aided in H getting accepted to a private school for dyslexic children. H has been a student at this school for the past 2 years and has gone from a student failing 6th grade to a student getting straight A’s!
I have met many reading specialists and speech-language pathologists over the past 10 years, and Mr. MacCormack is without a doubt the kindest and most well informed regarding recommendations for educational plans with dyslexic children.
My son is returning to a non dyslexic high school next year and we are forever grateful for the help we received from Mr. MacCormack.

"...a report that captured her uniqueness within the scope of the most current dyslexia research."
My family has known Stephen MacCormack for a few years now, and I honestly can say without his expertise I am not sure where my daughter would be. I am a speech and language pathologist myself, who had spent my daughter’s elementary years questioning her teachers about her progress in school. As she entered her third grade year, my husband and I watched as our eager-to-learn student became increasingly frustrated even with the support she was receiving at home. The school was not listening. We sought additional testing on our own and was fortunate enough to be connected to Stephen. His expertise and resources were pivotal in helping us to secure educational support for our daughter. He listened to us, connected with our daughter, and was able to synthesize information from school records, previous testing, and parent report. His ability to see our daughter as a unique student and provide a report that captured that uniqueness within the scope of the most current dyslexia research helped us to change the course of our daughter’s education.
Our daughter just completed the 7th grade with a level of independence and performance we knew she was capable of, but never had the joy to see until now. Seeing her face at the end of 7th grade, after having received Honor Roll for the first 3 semesters and then High Honors during her 4th semester, was priceless! Having a child with dyslexia is a challenging road to navigate, but with Stephen on your side the bumps become a little smoother. Thank you, Stephen, for all you did for our daughter!

"Stephen sat down with me to explain the results so that I could understand them and answered all my questions"
I was extremely pleased with the testing my son had with Stephen MacCormack. He was very flexible with making the appointment and was very clear on what was to be expected on testing day. On the day of the testing, he made my son feel comfortable and, even though the testing can be tedious and long, he kept my son engaged. During the testing he gave my son breaks and would update me on what tests he completed, and based on the results narrowed down which specific tests would be most beneficial. I liked that his testing was very specific to my son and his learning disability. After testing, Stephen sat down with me to explain the results so that I could understand them and answered all my questions. We are so thankful to have found Stephen and my son is now making unbelievable progress at school.
